This workshop will focus on safe crane operation and incidental power line work

Many crane related topics not directly related to trees will be touched upon in order to emphasize the importance of crane certification and testing. (Books about general crane certification will be available for participants to look at.)

The instructive media will include a live demonstration in which communication by radio headsets between operator, climber, and groundsman will be broadcast to the listening audience via remote PA.

ANSI standards will be cited in many parts of the seminar. The comparative method of estimating wood weight will be reviewed; issues such as common injuries and common causes of crane failure during crane-assisted tree removal operations will also be discussed.
