January 3,4,5, 2018 the Georgia Arborist Association at the request of our Production Safety Committee has created an aerial rescue training for firefighters. The motivation for this event was inspired by the fatalities in our industry in 2017. The fire department can be the first on the scene of a tree production injury, and we want them to able to rescue an injured climber as quickly as possible. However, many fire departments do not have familiarity with our equipment or our methods. We hope to change that by working with the Fire Departments of Georgia so they can efficiently rescue injured climbers and assist in other aerial tree issues. Many Fire Dept. are sending multiple personnel from each of their 3 shifts for this training, inc. Gwinnett, Dekalb and Cobb counties.
We need to raise $1000 for lunch each day, trainers, and equipment. All donations exceeding $150 will be recognized the day of the event and at our January 9th meeting. Donations can be made below. The Georgia Arborist Association is a 501c3 organization and donations are tax deductible. Thank you!
